About Joe

Joe Hagen began his career in the Landscape industry in the late 80’s.  Through the years, he had many opportunities to observe homeowners who contracted with his firm to install such projects as brick paved sidewalks, raised paver patios and retaining walls. While some of the work was on a luxurious scale, there were a certain percentage of the homeowners that contracted his services that had the ambition, but lacked the “know how” to attempt their brick paved project on their own.

In 1993, Joe was approached by a landscape supply yard to teach a weekly, “hands on”, Brick Paving Seminar to customers interested in doing their projects on their own.  Over the course of the next 5 years, Joe observed that with proper teaching, most of the homeowners completed successful do-it-yourself projects.  However, some homeowners needed to revisit the seminar several times to retain all the information taught.

It was at this time that Joe considered a solution to the problem; If there were a way that the homeowners could take the instructional material home with them, then they could review it as many times as they needed to complete their project. It was then that a seed was planted for the Average Joe Teaching Series.

The DVD’s were filmed, during actual instruction, to real homeowners who had never attempted their project before. The teaching DVD is broken down into easy to follow steps, complete with a material and tool list.  Also, as a bonus, the DVD comes with a quick reference guide, handy for taking outside to review the steps as you begin your project.

Joe has always believed in the capability of an “average homeowner”, and now with these teaching DVD’s, do it yourself projects can be completed successfully by anyone. Look for an Average Joe Teaching topic before you begin your next landscaping project.
